This is a great post. I’m the sort of person that internalizes all feedback, especially from rejections, and have ended up doing things counterproductive, or a waste of time, as a result.
A prime example is when a job rejected me for having bitten nails in 2021; and I spent a bunch of money I didn’t really have on acrylics for two years… yes my actual nails are long now. But did it really matter that they said that? Not really. I just posted a note with a video ringing a doorbell from back then… Nobody but this one hiring manager cared that my nails were bitten, so why did I?
Hey Derek! I really appreciated your quote: “You want to turn feedback into small, manageable experiments rather than overwhelming transformations.” It sounds like a more relaxed approach to handling the moment. 😎
Question: Is it the Apostles’ Creed or the Apostle’s Creed???
Feedback: I'm a first-time reader. So, you might explain Sporcle before you talk about it. I didn't understand the reference. I'll give you 2 to 3 weeks to consider it and would love to hear back from you with three improved sentences. 😉
Feedback Loop: I value feedback, especially when I seek it from others. I love reaching out to friends for their thoughts on a fragile idea. However, I find it challenging to engage with those who show little enthusiasm or interest in the heart of my message. The most difficult interactions come from those who express only criticism instead of offering any constructive insight. Lord, beer me strength!
Good advice, wish I'd had it forty years ago
You might want to get copies of, "Don't Sweat The Small Stuff," for those super judgey people in your life. Be Kind. Play Nice.
An Amazon gift card sure would get me a lotta carrots! ;o)
*Sounds like some humans are too anal. Grammar shouldn't matter as much as getting your point across effectively.
Have a binky-filled and blessed week Derek.

Good article! Thank you! Blessings, Bo
Hey Bo, thanks for the feedback.
You are totally right, I should have had a link back to Sporcle and a one-liner that talks a bit about it.
(Sporcle is a platform encompassing a website, several apps, and live pub trivia events across the U.S.)
Really appreciate the comment.
